A-Walking: Bilsdale to Helmsley via Stump Cross

Our three walks on Sunday, 9th February, each took place in the Bilsdale area of the North York Moors. The A-Walk set off from the B1257 road near Cam House, the B-Walk departed from Fangdale Beck while the C-Walk left from Newgate Bank. All walks finished in Helmsley

The A-Walk was led by Phil Barker - pictured below. There were five walkers in the group.

Our route covered a distance of 15.6 miles and took in Bride Stones, Nab Ridge, Tripsdale, Stump Cross, Bransdale Ridge, Lambfold Hill, Pockley Moor, Hanging Stone, Birk Nab Farm, Lund Farm, Howl Wood Farm, Hasty Bank Farm, Riccal Dale Wood, Carlton and Ash Dale.

We had an exciting day - especially the section of the walk that took us across Riccal Dale Wood. Here we were able to watch high-speed cars taking part in an autocross event!

A selection of some of the photos that we took during today's walking expedition can be seen by clicking on the pink button below:
